Hi, I'm Mrs. K,

Chemical Engineer and a Secondary Science Teacher

My name is Mrs. Kroupa, and I’m really excited to share with you fresh perspectives about STEM.

I went to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where I graduated with a degree chemical engineering in 2005. Why did I study chemical engineering you ask? Because I was great in high school chemistry and math, so I thought chemical engineering would be perfect. What I didn't know is much about engineering!

My husband and I have 4 kiddos. I never thought that raising 4 kids would produce 4 totally different personalities, but that is what we got. They are the joys of our lives.

In 2013, I decided to get my teaching license.  I went to North Park University, and after long nights of studying, I received my Master of Arts in Teaching. I’ve taught high school biology and chemistry, and most recently I’ve taught an afterschool STEM class for 4th and 5th graders at my children’s school.

Now I’ve reentered the world of Engineering working as a Process Engineer for a company in our home town. It all comes back around. Lastly, I’ve come to you with knowledge, experiences, and friendships that I’ve developed over the years to help you learn more about the STEM and the fields of STEM that await you!
